did yall know the last big update for my site was 10 months ago?

At least, it was gonna be when I wrote this back in April(?).

so, its been over a year! You’re probably wondering what I’ve been doing in ALL that time that could have possibly caused this site to take THIS long?

that, my dear reader, is something i will explain later. But first, lets dive into some things!

whats new

For starters, you may have noticed WAYY before this layout that I have a domain! After being bullied by the nekoweb discord for considering maxpixels.lol, i eventually landed on maxpixels.moe! it has a nice ring to it, and i will likely be using this domain for all my future projects!

second, we’ve retired the beige color choice from the previous layout. i know, so tragic. im sure many of you guys loved that style. unfortunately for the two people who did, I’ve decided that Tokyo Night (the color scheme im using) fits me better as a person and is overall nicer to look at.

alongside design choices, im also starting this new blog! the blog page on my website has been untouched for so long that the page never actually changed to the previous layout’s style. A large problem with the indieweb is often the lack of content that is on many sites, so I’m hoping to change that around with this site and blog way more often!

my evolution

my website started on nekoweb in febuary, and it had a nice, simple design to it.

i had always wanted to make a website on neocities, but i never really found the motivation to do so. i had been in the nekoweb discord for a while before its release, so it was kinda just on my discord server list til then. Once nekoweb actually released, i knew i had to hop on the trend, and quickly made an account.

the design itself was pretty much based on dimden’s website, and wasn’t anything large. i really like the minimalist aspect of the site to this day.

But as the months went by, I started feeling that my website was quite lame. I saw all these other sites with their cool css trickery and other cool aspects, so I wanted to make my site look cooler as well!

So I set out to do that! The result?

Yikes.

It wasn’t horrible, but there were a few problems with it. For starters, beige was a horrible color choice for my website and I’m not sure how I created that and thought fondly of it.

So after some time, I set out to completely “recreate” my site from scratch. With this, I decided to use 11ty when creating the website.

I had good progress, and it was looking pretty cool!

But I felt like changing my site into a more “simpler” design (yeah right max). And the result is the site you are looking at right now!

my time with nekoweb

when i joined nekoweb, i never really expected this much hype. i was simply a stupid teenager trying to make a website. not much has changed really, but since then ive been single handedly creating a monopoly on nekoweb with a nekoweb stats widget, which blows my mind how popular it is among people, nekocafe, nekoweb community, and becoming a member of nkko (formerly indiefellas). In short, I’d like to thank everyone for giving me a nice portfolio.

but now to the main part you’ve been waiting for…

WHY DID IT TAKE YOU 18 MONTHS TO MAKE A NEW LAYOUT????

short answer: laziness.

long answer? lazzzzzzinnnnesssss.
